Outdoor Trips for Kids Age 8 - 16 (Xtreme 12 - 16)

Join us for a fantastic day climbing outdoors with the Far Peak team.

Our trips will give kids a real taste of what climbing outdoors is all about under the expert guidance of the Far Peak team.  We explore a number of different venues, in and around the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean.  We have a fully endorsed AALA licence, so parents can drop their children off for the day, or go for an explore while we climb.

Where do we Climb?

Our main venues are at Symonds Yat and Wintours Leap (near Chepstow), but occassionally we travel further (and nearer) afield to other super crags.  After meeting the group and a safety brief, the group will travel to the crag and walk in for the day.  As most venues are off the beaten track, the walk can be between 15-45 minutes away from the designated car parking area.

How long is each trip?

  • Full day - 10 or 11am to 5pm.  Participants need to bring their own drinks and packed lunch, as well as everything to walk in and keep dry and warm.  If Climbing equipment is needed, a kit list is sent out before each trip and brought along by the instructor.

  • Half day - afternoon/evening with approx 4 hours climbing.  These are specialist trips with only 4 places available and designed for those wanting a really unique experience

Who are these trips suitable for?

These trips are for children age 8-17 only.  Please view our schedule of trips for adults here.......

Which trip should I book?

  • Outdoor Trip - our standard trip is suitable for age 8+ and for those climbing on a regular basis indoors.  A great experience for NICAS level 3 or 3+ or those climbing grade 5 (indoors) upwards.
  • Outdoor Xtreme - for those looking for a real challenge, perfect for NICAS Level 3+ or grade 5+ upwards! This day is not for the faint hearted, with bigger and more technical climbs.

Can Parents stay and watch?

Unfortunately, we cannot take responsibility for any parties who have not directly booked onto each trip.  The crags and surrounding areas can be extremely hazardous, so our full attention must be on the participants.  However, there are some great walks and viewpoints around the climbing areas which can be explored with children and dogs so please take the opportunity to have an explore!

Price: £35 or (£40 for Xtreme)
