Some specific information for parents/guardians of under 18s who wish to use the centre.

We welcome kids from age 3 upwards and have plenty of facilities, courses, clubs and entertainment.

CAMPERS

The extensive campsite is a lovely place to stay when you come to the Cotswolds.  It is run separately to the climbing centre and has its own team in charge of bookings and upkeep.  If you have booked to stay at Far Peak, please note that all the climbing facilities including the Woodlands and Low Ropes course are managed by the climbing team and are not included in your pitch fee.  All the details on staying at Far Peak can be found on the camping website.

FAQs

  • Do I need to book to come climbing?

If you are just looking to do bouldering or the low ropes obstacle course, you do not need to book in advance.

If you are looking to climb on the tower, auto belays or on the ropes indoors, whether you need to book will depend on your competency as a climber. If you are experienced in rope climbing and can pass a belay check with us, you do not need to book in advance. If you are not experienced in rope climbing, you will need to book an instructor led climbing session.

You will also need to pre register.

Check out all the details on what makes a 'Competent Climber' and our Day Ticket prices HERE

  • Do I have to be a climber to enjoy Far Peak?

If you are a climber already, once you have registered we will perform a competency check.

Climbers who pass this check can use all of our climbing facilities.

Non-climbers can still enjoy the bouldering areas and our lower level stuff - check out the details HERE

  • Can parents stay and watch?

YES - in fact, we do not allow parents off site while children are using the centre, even if they are booked on an instructor led session.

However, we have plenty of seating available next door in the Hayloft Cafe, who just happen to serve the best coffee,  cake and lunch in town!

You can also bring the dog for a wander around the site too - we have 25 acres of campsite to run around.

  • How do I book a session?

Simple - just choose from one of many instructor led sessions happening daily, or drop us an email.

Alternatively you can call the centre within opening hours.

  • Dog friendly?

We allow well behaved dogs in the marquee area outside the climbing centre and around the site too, but unfortunately we cannot allow them in the climbing areas or cafe.

  • Buggy/Wheelchair friendly?

Yes - We have ramps into the centre and baby changing facilities too.  However, we don't have much room for buggies in the centre, especially double buggies!

The gravel area has matting installed so even heavy e-wheelchairs can access the centre and toilets.

  • What is Bouldering?

Bouldering is climbing on smaller walls without the need for a harness or rope. You can just rock up for this one, no booking needed!

  • How do I climb on the tower?

If you are not already a climber you will need to book an instructor led session. If you are already a climber and can pass a belay check with us, you can use the tower under your own steam.

  • Is the low ropes obstacle course open?

The course is open from April - October weather permitting, until 6pm in the evenings

  • Do I need to sign a waiver?

Anyone taking part in any activities including climbing, archery, low ropes and caving needs to have a valid waiver form with us

  • Can I sign a waiver for someone else?

Anyone over 18 needs to be responsible for signing their own waiver form. Anyone under 18 needs to have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

  • Do you run 'Clip and Climb' sessions?

We don't run 'clip and climb' but if you want to use the auto belays, you will either need to book onto an instructor led session or pass a belay check with us

  • Can I use your auto belays?

If you are able to pass a belay check on top rope you are permited to use the auto belays under your own steam. If you are unable to pass a belay check, you will need to book onto an instructor led session to use the auto belays.
